The dangers of formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is present in 100% of homes, often in high concentrations.
It is in fact emitted by numerous sources present in the home:
building and decoration materials, tobacco smoke, scented candles, chipboard (furniture, wooden flooring),
cleaning products, DIY products (paint, adhesives, varnish), insulation materials, cosmetics.
It is a colourless gas that is a volatile organic compound.
Formaldehyde is an irritant to the eyes, nose and throat that can aggravate symptoms and increase the risk of the appearance of allergies and asthma.
The World Health Organisation has also recently declared it a carcinogen to humans.
